St. Louis Sports & Social Club: General League Questions

What is the St. Louis Sports & Social Club?
The St. Louis Sports and Social Club (STLSSC) is a casually competitive coed sports league in St. Louis.  We believe it is the best coed sports league in the St. Louis area.

Why was the St. Louis Sports & Social Club created?
The STLSSC was created to combine sports and hanging out.  The vast majority of us are past our competitive years, and we wanted to create a laid back league where people from all over St. Louis can relax, hang out, and meet new people.  It's really hard to meet new people, especially if you're new to an area, and the league is an excellent way to do that.

What coed sports leagues does the St. Louis Sports & Social Club offer?
The STLSSC has several leagues including:

What makes the St. Louis Sports & Social Club different from other leagues?
Aside from the league being coed and casually competitive, we also have postgame happy hours following all of our games.  This is a great time to hang out with the other STLSSC members.  We also have preseason AND post season parties!

How much does it cost to play in one of the St. Louis Sports & Social Club Coed Sports Leagues?
The registration fee varies from $35- $40, depending on the sport.  We also offer special discounted registration rates too, so check our website regularly.

What is included in my St. Louis Sports & Social Club registration?
         Your STLSSC registration includes:
      1. An official STLSSC league t shirt
      2. Preseason party
      3. Post game happy hour specials
      4. Postseason party w/ FREE BEER
      5. Guaranteed minimum number of regular season games (varies w/ each sport)
      6. Single elimination playoff tournament for qualifying teams

How do I join one of the St. Louis Sports & Social Club Coed Sports Leagues?

We offer different leagues depending on the time of the year.  You can register for one of our great coed sports leagues on our Sign Up Page.

On the registration page, you have two options for signing up.

      1. If you have your own team, you can sign up to reserve your spot on that team.
      2. If you do not have a team, you can sign up as an individual, or with a friend(s), and we will place you on the same team. ** Make sure you mention that you want to be on the same team in the comment section of the registration form. **

What types of payments are accepted by the St. Louis Sports & Social Club?
You have two options for submitting your payment to the STLSSC
      1. You can pay online through a secured transaction with Paypal
      2. You can mail us your registration

I don't have my own team, can I still sign up for a St. Louis Sports & Social Club League?

Unlike many of the leagues in St. Louis, the STLSSC offers individual and team registrations for ALL of our leagues.  You can also sign up with a friend, and we will put you on the same team!  See the section on "How do I join the STLSSC" for detailed information on how to register as an individual, or with a friend.

When can I pick up my St. Louis Sports & Social Club League T shirt?

STLSSC league t shirts can be picked up at the preseason party.  If you are unable to attend the party, your team captain will bring your shirt to the first game.

What kind of social events does the STLSSC host?

The St. Louis Sports & Social Club is always looking for another great social event.  The league currently hosts pub crawls, trips to St. Louis Cardinals games, fundraisers for local charities, and food drives for local food pantries.  In the past year, the STLSSC has organized fundraisers for The Back Stoppers and the CANstruction Project.

How do I find out about upcoming STLSSC leagues and social events?

Sign up to receive the St. Louis Sports & Social Club Newsletter.  We'll send you an email reminder for all of our upcoming events.  The STLSSC respects your privacy and will not send out spam, or sell your contact information to third parties.

St. Louis Sports & Social Club Coed Kickball League

How many games will my team play in the STLSSC Kickball League?

Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 10 regular season games, plus a single elimination playoff for qualifying teams.

      How long are the games?

All games are 7 innings, and have a 50 minute time limit if needed.  If a game is tied at the end of 7 innings, then play continues into extra innings  (See STLSSC Kickball Rules for more information on extra inning play).

Do I need to bring anything to the game?

The only thing you need to bring is your Official STLSSC Coed Kickball League T-Shirt.  We provide all the equipment.

      Who umpires the games?

Every game is umpired by an official ASA certified umpire.

Is bunting allowed in the STLSSC Kickball League?

No, bunting is not allowed.  All kickers must make an attempt to put the ball in play.  A ball kicked by a male kicker must cross the diagonal line connecting 3rd base & 1st base.  A ball kicked by a female kicker must cross the 10 foot arch in front of home plate.

Why is sliding not allowed in the STLSSC Kickball League?

To maximize the safety of all STLSSC members, sliding is not allowed.

      What is the forfeit policy?

In order to help guarantee that all games will be played, the STLSSC has a forfeit policy to discourage teams from not showing up for games.  We've all played in leagues where teams randomly do not show up.  To discourage this, the STLSSC has a $50 forfeit fee for teams failing to show up for a game.  The fee will go towards their opponent's bar tab.

When is the STLSSC Coed Kickball League Postseason Party?

The STLSSC Coed Kickball League Postseason Party will immediately follow the championship game, unless otherwise indicated.  As always, there will be FREE BEER for STLSSC members!

St. Louis Sports & Social Club Coed Flag Football League

What type of league is the STLSSC Flag Football League?

The STLSSC Flag Football league is a casually competitive coed flag football league.  The games are laid back.  As with all of our sports, the focus is on having fun, and not on winning/losing.  We strongly discourage ultra competitive people from playing in STLSSC leagues.

How many games will my team play in the STLSSC Flag Football League?

Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 6 regular season games, plus a single elimination playoff for qualifying teams.

Do I need to bring anything to the game?

The only thing you need to bring is your Official STLSSC Coed Flag Football League T-Shirt.  We provide flags and footballs.  Metal cleats are NOT allowed.

      Who officiates the games?

The STLSSC will provide qualified officials for the games.

Why is my team required to supply a sideline judge?

In order to keep registration fees low, the STLSSC asks that teams supply a sideline judge for specifically indicated games.  The sideline judge can be a player or a representative from that team.  Teams will NEVER have to supply a sideline judge for a game in which their team is playing.  The role of the sideline judge is to help the officials spot the ball, and to call basic penalties around the line of scrimmage (offsides, etc).

When is the STLSSC Coed Flag Football League Postseason Party?

The STLSSC Flag Football Postseason Party will immediately follow the championship game, unless otherwise indicated.  As always, there will be FREE BEER for STLSSC members.

St. Louis Sports & Social Club Coed Cornhole League

      What the heck is cornhole?

Cornhole, bags, bean bag toss.  Call it whatever you want.  We've modified things to make it a team game that is played at a bar.  Beer, bags, and the STLSSC...What more do you need?  Visit the American Cornhole Association for more information about cornhole.

      Where are the matches played?

All of the STLSSC cornhole games will be played at the sponsoring bar.  It really is a great time, because you can hang out with the your teammates and fellow cornholers at the bar.

How many matches will my team play?

Teams will play a minimum of 6 regular season matches, plus playoffs for qualifying teams.

Do I need to bring anything to the match?

No.  Just wear your Official STLSSC League T-Shirt.

How many people are on a team?

Each team should have 3 male & 3 female players.  Teams may have fewer than 6 players, but this is discouraged by the STLSSC.  After all, the more people, the more fun we will all have!!

How are the matches played with multiple people on a team?

Each match consists of 3 games.  A game will feature a coed pair from one team versus a coed couple from another team.  If a team has less than 3 male or female players, then a teammate of that same gender will play in an extra game.  Example: If a team has 2 male players, then one male player will play in two games.

How does a team win a match?

Teams must win 2 of the 3 games to win a match.  If a team wins all three games, they will be given credit for 1.5 wins.

How does scoring work in cornhole?

The first team to reach 21 points wins the game.  Individuals score points by either landing the bag on the board (1 point), or tossing the bag through the hole in the board (3 points).  Opponents' scores cancel each other out.  Example: A player on Team A tallies 4 points from their round of throws, while their opponent on Team B tallied 1 point.  Team A would be awarded 3 points for that round of throws.

      When is the postseason party?

The postseason party immediately follows the championship game.  FREE BEER for STLSSC members!
